Tell Me Pretty Lies- very entertaining

Updated: Apr 26, 2020

This was one of those books that I didn‘t want to end. The suspense was dragged out up until the very last chapter and I enjoyed it. The ending may have been a bit abrupt because of this, but the story was still enjoyable.

Tell Me Pretty Lies is the story of Shayne and Thayer who lived together for 3 years when their parents were engaged and ended up having a ‘relationship’. But after the death of Thayer's brother, things fall apart. Their parents split and Shayne moves to her old neighbourbood.

Months later, Shayne is back to finish up high school but her return is anything but pleasant. Thayer and his brother Holden want nothing to do with her and the student body isn’t a fan of hers. Plus, there‘s suspicion around Thayer’s brothers death and they (Thayer and Holden) think she knows something about it.

So, they decide to keep her close only to find out what she knows but this is plan isn’t as successful especially when she and Thayer start to get real ‘close’ again.

I really liked this book. I liked that the story

was not a past to present type of thing. I wouldn’t have wanted to read about their whole relationship when they lived together.

Thayer and Shayne’s ‘love to hate you’ type of relationship was fun to read. ’Cause even though they absolutely despise each other and should stay away, they can’t help wanting to jump each other’s bones when they are together. The constant push and pull between them also meant they had some A+ steamy scenes.

Thayer was a good hero, even though he came off as a hardhead at times, you could tell he wanted to be with Shayne. Reading about their relationship from his POV was very entertaining.

Shayne was great. She was strong and level headed. Although she did have that ‘betraying body’ thing where she turns to mush with one look from Thayer. But I’m happy it didn’t last all through because I would have stopped reading.

Both of them had to deal with so much family drama and for a slight second I didn’t think they’d end up together (but they did).

In conclusion, it was a decent book and I hope you like it too.

Enjoy! xo
